The Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) is the national scientific library of Belgium. By legal deposit it acquires all publications published in Belgium and any of Belgian authors published abroad. It carries out essential tasks to make scientific information available. It contributes to research in the area of information sciences and librarianship, and participates in research projects dedicated to cultural heritage in areas covered by its collections.
The CegeSoma, Centre for Historical Research and Documentation on War and Society, is the Belgian centre of expertise on the history of the great political, social and cultural conflicts and turning points of the 20th century. It aims to function as a platform for scientific and social activities, where both researchers and a generally interested public are involved. It is since 2016 the 4th Operational Directory of the State Archives.
The Digital Mathematics Research Group (DIMA) of the Department of Mathematics at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) specializes in the mathematical foundations for digital data acquisition, representation, analysis, communication, security and forensics. Within this project we will develop objective digital image quality metrics based upon mathematical transformations applied to digital scans of both documents and photos.
The MaSTIC is a multidisciplinary Master of the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). This Master aims to train specialists capable of dealing with the strategic challenges of information and communication management. MaSTIC can build on more than thirty years of experience and studies the structuring of information at large, which requires abstraction abilities and high-level conceptualisation.
